Executive Team
Founding Members
Senior Advocate Mr. Samarendra Nath Goswami is the founder of Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS), Bangladesh that is the first international mediation institute of Bangladesh. BIMS registered in 2017 and is a nonprofit and nonpolitical, government registered society. He obtained M.A (Edn.), LL.B., B.Ed., LL.M degree from University of Dhaka and University of Rajshahi respectively. Mr. SN Goswami is a designated Senior Advocate Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh and specialized Counsel and Party appointed Neutral Arbitrator, Commercial Mediator and Adjudicator. He has facilitated commercial mediation and has extended advisory to local law firms on ADR mechanism and very actively promotes ADR in Bangladesh. He is the founder of Naogaon Law College, Bangladesh and also founder and Chairman of many more Mediators forums and organizations. He is the founder and publisher of monthly law journal “Bangladesh Law Times” and is the author of “Bahai Personal Law”.
Hari Shankar Niraula is a distinguished Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of Nepal and professionally the Chairman of Niraula Law Firm, based in Dillibazar, Kathmandu. He has been practicing law since 1979, specializing in civil cases and corporate law. Renowned for his expertise, he has also been a dedicated mediation activist since the inception of his legal career and he is now accredited mediator.
He was the President of Supreme Court Bar Association for 2023–2025. Mr. Niraula has made significant contributions to the legal fraternity. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Commerce and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His legal acumen is reflected in his published works, including Najirko Sangalo-1: Adalatko Avahelana (collection of precedents on contempt of court since its establishment until April 1982). He regularly writes articles on law practice and social service, blending his professional and philanthropic pursuits.
Beyond his legal career, Mr. Niraula is deeply involved in social service through Lions Clubs International. A committed member, he has attended 36 consecutive Lions Clubs International Annual Conventions, from 1988 Denver, Colorado, USA to 2024 Melbourne, Australia. He had also successfully served as the Governor of Lions Clubs International District 325 Nepal for 1995/1996. His unwavering dedication to both the legal profession and community service has earned him immense respect and recognition.
Ms. Anjita Khanal is an advocate and the first woman General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee at the Nepal Bar Association of Nepal, the federal Nepalese lawyer's organization.
Deepak Raj Bhatt is a seasoned mediator, trainer, and advocate with over a decade of experience in conflict transformation and peacebuilding through mediation. As a certified mediator and trainer accredited by the Mediation Council of Nepal and the Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS), he has successfully conducted hundreds of basic and advanced mediation training sessions along with Training of Trainers on Mediation for the mediators. His work extends to capacity enhancement programs for local judicial bodies, focusing on enhancing skills on justice delivery.
Currently serving as a Senior Program Officer at Natural Resource Conflict Transformation Center-Nepal (NRCTC-N), he actively collaborates with local communities, government institutions, and stakeholders to foster sustainable peace and cultivate improved relationships through the transformation of multistakeholder and interpersonal conflict cases. He is also involved in designing, and preparing training contents, as well as developing mediation manuals and resource materials at the center.
In addition to his professional engagements, he is a regular contributor to national newspapers, writing about mediation and justice. Deepak holds a Master's Degree in Environmental Science and is a registered lawyer, having graduated from Tribhuvan University of Nepal. His passion for creating positive societal change continues to drive his impactful contributions to the field of mediation and peacebuilding.

Ms. Nishat Mahmood, is a practicing Advocate before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Professionally she is an expert on civil, commercial and writ matters including personal and property matters, employment disputes, labour issues, revolving banks and real estate. Being an accredited mediator of BIMS, she also adopts alternative dispute resolution where it is mandated by law or required by the parties involved in those matters mentioned.
Although Ms Mahmood is mainly a litigation as well as corporate practitioner, she has delved into legal research for policy reviewing and advocating on public health and environmental issues for having keen interest in changing policy for the betterment of the general people. She has thus involved herself into actively participating with the activities of platforms such as Center for Law and Policy Affairs (CLPA), Poribesh Bachao Andolon (POBA) and Development Activities of Society (DAS) thus working in projects of United Nations (UN) and World Health Organization (WHO) of that matter.
Ms. Mahmood is a non-practicing Barrister of England and Wales, UK. She has obtained LL.B. from University of London, UK in 2007 and LL.M. from University of Wales, UK in 2010. She has also obtained Post Graduate Diploma from the City Law School, City University London in 2011 and in the same year was called to the English Bar from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

Dr. Adhikari is working in the last 34 years teaching at Nepal Law Campus, Faculty of Law Tribhuvan University of Nepal. Former Asst. Dean of Faculty of Law, T.U. and Senior Advocate, law practicing in Supreme Court of Nepal. Recently she retired from university. She contributes to developed curriculum regarding LLM, B.A.LLB, and LLB program and Clinical education program as per the Academy role at University. She has associate with civil society organization as a feminist activist for the protection and promotion of human rights of women, girls of marginalize and disadvantage community. She is a founder member of WOREC, Founder President of Centre for Women's Awareness and Development (CWAD) and Women NGO Federation (WNF). Recently she is associate as a Executive Member of the Bangladesh – Nepal Mediators Forum.
As professor, Senior Advocate and Feminist Activist she has involved on advocacy for amendment of the discriminatory provision of law and policy for advancement of women's rights and access to justice of women, children and marginalize group of people of Nepal, her advocacy to the Government for equity and protection and promotion of basic human rights of women to bring their attention on women's human rights and access to justice. She has been involved in advocacy/campaigns for gender equity within the national laws and policies. Her endeavor women's access to justice for promoting women's rights in a broad range such as right to education, right to property, right to employment, right to participation in decision making level, right to identity of women. She has conducted Mediation training for Women Groups, Lawyers, Local Level elected members of Municipality and civil Society organizations members in Nepal.
She served as the member of the policy drafting committee of Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Government of Nepal, on ‘gender and legal’ team 2015, and contribute her expertise as a member of the high-level task force of drafting of Penal Code on ‘GESI perspective, government of Nepal, 2017. She served as member of Mediation Council of Supreme Court of Nepal, 2023 and Member of Governing body of National Judicial Academy of Nepal 2022.
Ms. Adhikary has been involved to enhance the capacity of local government and paralegals on mediation skill, knowledge for access to justice of marginalized women and girls and GBV victim survivors. As well as Ms. Adhikary involved on advocacy to ensure the Leadership of women in three tires of Government of Nepal and institutional mechanism of government and private sector as per the constitutional mandate.
She has participated international programand presented a paper, Women and Children: The Human Rights Relationship,A Regional Conference Held in Bangkok, Thailand organized by UNICEF/ Wellesley Centers for Women. She has present the paper on “the status of women’s rights in Nepal”, Sharing the experiences of women’s human rights in the context of Nepal, " at the Helsinki, City Hall, Finland, Organized by KIOS, The Finish NGO Foundation for Human Rights.
She has presented a paper on behalf of civil society organization, universal periodic report review pre-session from 6-9 October 2015, held at Geneva, Switzerland, organized by UPR promoting and strengthening the universal periodic review. She has participated in the open society foundations global board orientation program on 19– 22 June 2016, London. She has participated the program on "breaking the cycle- study visit" organized by central rural joven vida cerujovi, spain caceres, 22 nov.-28 nov. 2017.
She has presented a paper on “Asia Pro Bono Conference” organized by BAPSCAL, Kathmandu, Nepal October 15-18, 2020. She has presented a paper on “Asia Pro Bono Conference” organized by BAPSCAL, Philippines, November 15-18, 2023.
She has participated on Civil Code reform of Nepal, comparative study with japanese Civil Code program organized byJICA, Tokyo international centre, japan, held on tokyo japan, march 8th -16, 2023. She has participated on Mediation Training Organize by BIMS, in Dhaka Bangladesh, 2024.
Ms. Srijony Tripura a is practicing as an Advocate before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Her legal experience spans across civil, criminal, employment disputes, and labor issues disputes. In addition to her expertise, Ms. Tripura is an accredited mediator, obtained her accreditation from the Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS). She has actively implemented her knowledge as a mediator in ensuring human rights and legal rights of human being at national and international level. She has also applying her expertise and knowledge in growing in leadership, interacting and sharing with team members and colleagues to develop human rights situation of Bangladesh.
Ms. Tripura’s obtained both her LL.B. and LL.M. from the Northern University Bangladesh. Beyond her academic credentials, she has been performing her duties as director of Bangladesh International Mediation Society, as legal advisor and panel lawyer in reputed national and financial institutions. she has completed numerous professional training programs nationally and internationally on human rights and mediation.
Simran Napit is a distinguished professional with extensive expertise in governance, public administration, and international policy advocacy. Currently serving as a Section Officer at the Supreme Court of Nepal, she plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient operation of the judiciary. Her contributions to legal and administrative reforms, including the modernization of dispute settlement mechanisms, underscore her commitment to enhancing the justice system in Nepal.
Simran has also represented Nepal on the global stage as a delegate to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC). In this capacity, she skillfully navigated complex policy discussions, championed Nepal’s development priorities, and fostered collaboration with international stakeholders on governance and sustainable development issues. Her ability to bridge local challenges with global solutions reflects her exceptional diplomatic and analytical skills.
An accomplished author, Simran Napit penned Judiciary’s Dream Sapana, which explores the critical intersections of law, governance, and societal progress. Her thought leadership in this domain highlights her vision for a transparent, equitable, and accountable justice system.. Additionally, her scholarly contributions extend to Green Arbitration: Paving the Way for Sustainable Dispute Resolution, which advocates for eco-friendly approaches in alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
In 2024, Simran was instrumental in drafting the "Kathmandu Declaration 2024 on Modernizing Dispute Resolution: The Role of ADR in Enhancing ADR Week 2024." She hosted International Conference on Modernizing Dispute Resolution: The Role of ADR in Enhancing ADR Week 2024. This landmark international conference brought together participants from 17 countries to discuss innovative approaches to dispute resolution. Her work in advancing mediation and ADR mechanisms aligns seamlessly with her broader vision of justice system reform.
Mr. Mahidi Hasan Dalim, a well-known journalist in the legal circles of Bangladesh, is an accredited mediator.
In 2012, he joined Dhaka Times, an online news portal, and started legal journalism. From January 2014 to November 2020, he worked as a Supreme Court reporter for the online news portal RisingBD. During this time, his stories about the famous family of lawyers, budding lawyers in RisingBD gained wide readership in the legal community. Bangladesh Law Times published the anthology. From December 1, 2020, he is working as a senior reporter of Dhaka Post. He is currently a member of Dhaka Reporters Unity, Dhaka Journalists Union and Supreme Court Reporters Forum. An Accredited Mediator of Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS).
In 2022, he published his second book and in the same year he received the 'BIMS Gold Medal' along with two judges of the Hon’ble High Court. 'High Court Controversial Judgment and July Uprising' is the third book written by him.
Ms. Sheshadri Bhowmick Joya is a seasoned legal practitioner with extensive experience as an Advocate before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Her legal acumen spans across civil, commercial, banking law, specializing in company matters, employment disputes, and labor issues disputes. In addition to her expertise, Ms. Joya is an accredited mediator with the Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS). She actively embraces alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, especially in cases where the law or the parties necessitate mediation, offering a pragmatic and efficient solution to resolve conflicts. Her expertise in ADR extends to complex corporate negotiations, labor disputes, and commercial contracts, ensuring swift and effective resolutions while minimizing litigation costs for her clients.
Outside of her professional career, Ms. Joya is dedicated to leveraging her legal expertise to positively influence society. Her active involvement in policy reviews and advocacy for commercial and business law reflects her commitment to fostering sustainability within Bangladesh’s business sectors. Collaborating with both international and national organizations, she consistently contributes to the development of legal frameworks that promote long-term community benefits and uphold responsible corporate governance.
Ms. Joya’s legal career is strengthened by both national and international qualifications. She holds an LL.B from the University of London (UK) and an LL.M from Eastern University, Bangladesh. Beyond her academic credentials, she has completed numerous professional training programs with organizations such as the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), REFINITIVE, BPO etc. expanding her knowledge in specialized areas of law and corporate governance.
Ms. Suneeta Regmi Pokhrel, after completing Diploma in Law, has been continuously practicing law for more than 40 years. Having obtained Advanced Level Mediation Training, she has actively handled court referred mediation till date and successfully served her clients through pre-court mediation in various cases under law practice from her law firm.
As a mediator, she has been involved in mediation in various court annexed cases as well working on legal matters during the civil war period as well as the post-earthquake period and Corona pandemic. She has worked extensively in legal literacy, leadership training and capacity building training for grass-root women and women involved in politics all over Nepal. And consequently, has gained sufficient knowledge of various social values and cultural norms of Nepal.
She has been involved in conducting VIRTUAL DIALOGUE ON Interaction between Judicial committee officials and Judges Legal provision of the Judicial Committee as per the Local Government Operation Act and other laws in pandemic period. She has been working as a lead trainer of mediation training for judicial committees of various municipalities as well as conducting mediation training to the legal and social science professionals aspiring to become a certified mediator. She was awarded the title of Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court of Nepal in August, 2017. Presently she is a member of mediation council, appointed by the Supreme Court of Nepal

Ms. Rita Manandhar is a dedicated mediator, trainer, and peace campaigner with over 20 years of extensive experience in Nepal’s social sector. She is currently serving as the Regional Coordinator at the Natural Resource Conflict Transformation Center-Nepal, where she plays a pivotal role in mediating multi-stakeholder conflict cases related to natural resources. Her work emphasizes fostering dialogue, building consensus, and driving sustainable solutions to complex conflicts.
Ms. Manandhar is also an active member of the NGO Federation of Nepal, representing the Bagmati Province, where she collaborates with various organizations to promote social harmony, justice, and development. Her unwavering passion for creating positive societal change has been the cornerstone of her career.
Academically, she holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Her academic background, combined with her practical experience, has positioned her as a respected figure in the field of conflict resolution and social transformation.
Recognized as a peace campaigner, Ms. Manandhar continues to inspire communities and institutions through her commitment to fostering understanding and building a harmonious society.
A.B.M. Bayezid is a practicing, Advocate before the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Professional he is a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Professionally he is an experienced lawyer particularly in Civil, Criminal, Company Matters, Admiralty Suit, Writ Matter, Service Matter. He is an accredited medeater of BIMS. He also adopts alternative disputes resolution. Where it is mandated by law or required by the parties involved in those matters. Mr. A.B.M. Bayezid is a researcher of special matters where vires of law or portion of law is challenged before the Court for giving accurate redress to the litigant people through the reasonable solution.
He also render services to the people at large in respect of Human Rights through VRJ organization of Dhaka University Bangladesh.
He acquired M.SS. in Economic from Dhaka University. He also acquired specialized Master Degree in VRJ (Victimology and Restorative Justice) and IRLS (Industrial Relation and Labour Studies) both from Dhaka University.
Mr. Zahed Hossain is a seasoned practicing advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh for last 32 years. In his enormous practicing career, he has been counsel and legal advisor in many nationally reputed institutions. Mr. Zahed is an accredited mediator and obtained his accreditation from the Bangladesh International Mediation Society (BIMS).
Mr. Hossain has seen the light of the world from a respectable Muslim family of Village- Sagardi, Police Station- Hatiya, District- Noakhali, Bangladesh.
Mr. Hossain had a good academic career and obtained his LL.B. degree and M.A. in Economics from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
